John Oscar Brown, age 72, of Lewisville, passed away Tuesday, September 8, 2009 following a courageous battle with cancer.  John was born in Mena, Arkansas on January 17, 1937 to Benjamin Mayo and Opal Annavine Brown.  John pursued a career in retail sales working for Lowe's, Anthony's Department Store and Payless Cashway's in Lewisville, Texas.  He married, Jane A. Morton, his wife of 48 years, on December 30, 1960 in Fort Smith, Arkansas.  John had a strong Christian faith and regularly attended the Church of Christ.  John was preceded in death by his mother, father and brother, Jerry Brown of Mena, Arkansas.  John is survived by his wife, Jane A. Brown of Lewisville; two daughters, Rhonda Taylor of Houston, Texas and Lisa and Jim Carver of Lake City, Minnesota; granddaughter, Dee Anne Carver of Lake City Minnesota; brother, Benny Brown of Alma, Arkansas; four sisters, Mary Ann Brown, Cora Sadler and Wanda Brown all of Mena, Arkansas and Ruby Boyette of Wendell, North Carolina.  A private service for the family will be held at the Grace Fellowship Church in McKinney, Texas with Virgil Farr officiating at 10:00 AM, Saturday, September 12, 2009.  In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be given in John's name to the American Cancer Society: www.cancer.org
