John A. Allen, 86, of Shady Shores, TX, died Tuesday, November 10, 2015 at his home in Shady Shores.
Mr. Allen was born on October 12, 1929 in Bennington, OK to W.A. and Allie F. (Howell) Allen. He was married to Cora S. Clark on December 4, 1954. He was a member of the Lake Cities United Methodist Church in Lake Dallas; past Master of Argyle Masonic Lodge #698; fifty year member of Stanfield Masonic Lodge #217 in Denton. He served in the United States Army as a staff sergeant during the Korean War while stationed in Alaska. He owned and operated the John A. Allen Construction Company.
John is survived by his wife, Cora S. "Dena" Allen of Shady Shores; daughter, Rebecca Jo Gunter of Lake Dallas; sons, David Allen of Bridgeport, William Claude Allen of Rhome; sisters, Loretta Huskey of Atoka, OK, Tommy Joe Allen of Atoka, OK; brothers, Roy Allen of Thackerville, OK, Josh Allen of Atoka, OK; nine grandchildren, Kenny Allen, Lucas Allen, Julie Richardson, Lauren Allen, John Paul Allen, Jr., Ryan Frederick, Zachary Allen, Madison Allen, Molly Ray; twelve great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, John Paul Allen.
A visitation will be held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Thursday, November 12, 2015 at the funeral home. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, November 13, 2015 at Lake Cities United Methodist Church, 300 E. Hundley Dr., Lake Dallas. Rev. R.P. Lawson will officiate the service. Interment will follow at Swisher Cemetery in Lake Dallas.
