She worked for many years as a legal secretary for Dupage County Judge Anthony Peccarelli (deceased) and one of the Illinois State House of Representative, Lee A. Daniels. She switched direction in the late 70s early 80s to a technology company DBMS, where she created the position of Facilities Manager. If you look at the town of Naperville, Illinois, Joan's hands where on the blueprints of many, many, many of the high rise there. She worked for several companies in the Naperville, Illinois area, such as S&H Green stamps.  Her final job at retirement was an office furniture dealership company called Henricksen, of Naperville, Illinois.

She retired in 2005 from corporate America in Chicagoland, Illinois.  She found herself a part-time job at Center for Spiritual Living, Cape Coral, Florida, that was her final and most rewarding place of employment. For the first time in Joan's employment life she felt; what she put into the establishment: she received as much if not more in return, not monetary. Her final retirement was when her daughter took her to Texas in January 2020. She retired holding the title of "the BOSS!" (According to Reverend Emile Gauvreau, who hired her).

Joan's passionate hobby since 1985 was her ceramics. She absolutely enjoyed spending time making beautiful pieces that she hand painted. If you were fortunate to receive a gift from her many pieces, consider yourself a special person in her life. Check the bottom of your piece to see JBW and the year it was made for you!
