Jo Anna Wood Minter

Jo Anna Wood Minter died January 19, 2008 at her home at Sanger, TX. She was born November 27, 1948 in Pecos, TX, to John and Helen (Keen) Wood. She married Mike Minter on May 13, 1972 in Denton, TX.

Services will be held at the First Baptist Church of Sanger, TX on Thursday January 24th at 2:00 PM with Rev. Skip McNeal officiating. Interment will follow at Bolivar Cemetery, Bolivar, TX. Visitation will be from 7 to 8 Wednesday, January 23rd, at Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home, 705 N. Locust St. Denton, TX.

Jo Anna was an avid horsewoman and enjoyed dressage and trail riding on her horse Fox. She owned several beloved horses through the years, loved the western riding traditions, and all the time she spent with her friends and their horses.

Jo Anna was a member of the First Baptist Church of Sanger, and a Sanger resident since 1985. She was an active member of the Order of the Eastern Star, both the Sanger Chapter #1027 and Pilot Point Chapter #1025. She was active in the charitable work of her O.E.S. chapters. Jo Anna loved the Eastern Star ceremonies and the office of Conductress, more especially the initiation ceremony in which she attained a high degree of proficiency. Her Church and the O.E.S. were an important part of her life.

Survived by husband: Mike Minter of Sanger, TX; father, Capt. John M. Wood, Texas Rangers Ret. and wife Jewell; brother: Charles E. Wood and wife DeLora; uncle, Bill Wood; aunts, Mildred Keen and Rachel Garner; cousins, Shannon Harrison, Paul Wood and Don Wood; nephews, Charles E. Wood Jr., John Mark Wood; niece: Ladonna Chism; great-nephews and niece: Andrew, Mathew, Trini, Devin and Jacqueleen.

Jo Anna is also survived by a myriad of Order of the Eastern Star sisters and brothers world wide as well as beloved neighbors and friends who lovingly supported her throughout her long illness. She will be missed by all of them.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Helen Jack (Peggy) Keen Wood; grandparents A.R. and Geneva Wood and Charles N. and Anna Sue Keen, and an aunt, Beatrice Keen.
