Jo Rogers, who graced this world with her enduring spirit and creative heart for nearly eighty-two years, passed away peacefully on July 1, 2026, in Denton, Texas. Born July 31, 1944, in Terrell, Texas, Jo lived a life defined by loyalty, curiosity, and a profound devotion to her family and the world she so loved. 

From her earliest days, Jo was imbued with a steadfastness that remained her guiding light throughout her journey. As a child exploring the fields and byways of Oklahoma, she developed not only a wonder for the natural world but also a bold, fearless embrace of its mysteries—treating bugs and butterflies as treasures to discover and leaves as brushes for the vibrant art she saw all around her. Nature walks with her children—collecting leaves, searching for rollie pollies, or marveling at the delicate symmetry of butterflies—became joyful adventures that transcended time, instilling in her family a genuine curiosity and a belief that “everything is art.” 

Jo’s passion for learning led her first to Bishop McGuinness Catholic High School and later to the halls of Oklahoma College for Women (OCW), where she continued to cultivate her sharp mind and artistic spirit. Education, for Jo, was never a mere formality; it was a doorway to understanding the beautiful, complex patterns underlying life—a philosophy she would later pass on to her daughters and grandchildren. 

Though Jo was an artist in every sense—painting, sculpting, crafting worlds from mere imagination—her greatest masterpiece was the home she created. As a homemaker, Jo’s creativity knew no bounds, turning even the smallest task into a ritual of love and meaning. She welcomed all with open arms, enriching her home with the warmth of humor, her quirky wit, shining through in moments both grand and small. 

To family and friends, Jo was a bastion of encouragement, a gentle hand offered in times of need, and a compassionate heart who gave selflessly regardless of whether the recipient was kin or stranger. 

To know Jo was to experience kindness in action. Her generosity was matched only by her ability to listen deeply, to understand unspoken burdens and offer words—or simply presence—that soothed wounds and encouraged journeys yet to unfold. She held her loved ones close: Leigh Rogers, her devoted daughter; Mark Gonzales, her son-in-law; Lynn Ann Raney, her cherished daughter; and her adored grandchildren, Sebastian Lowrey and Aliah Lowrey. 

The circle of her love extended wide, touching her dearest friends Jeanne and Rich Shultz and Shirley Herring, her brother Tom Rogers and sister-in-law Jan Rogers, her former husband Patrick Henderson, and her nieces and nephews—Mary Lou Yellowwolf-Meyers, Roger Vaughn Yellowwolf, Brian Erik Lingle, Susan Tinney, Deann Washenberger-Thomas, Michael Washenberger, Justy Brubaker, Todd Rogers—and cousins Jerry Hons, Charlie Dries, and various cousins in New York and California. Each was a bright thread in the elaborate tapestry, Jo so lovingly wove throughout her days. 

She was preceded in death by her beloved son William Harold Henderson, sister Ann Rogers, father Harold Rogers, mother Margarette Dries-Rogers, and cousin Shirley "Jetti" Dries. Their memories remain rooted in the hearts of those who continue to honor Jo’s life.

Jo’s legacy is one of quiet strength and infectious joy. She was, above all else, proud to be called Mother, Grandmother, and Best Friend. A spiritual seeker with a tender soul, she approached each day with gratitude, curiosity, and a resolve to see the intrinsic beauty in life’s fleeting moments. In the garden, among colors and blooms, in the laughter shared during an art project, or the comforting embrace offered in difficult times—Jo’s presence endures. 

The family invites all who knew and loved Jo to come together and celebrate a life abundantly lived. On July 31st, 2026 at 3pm at Mulkey-Bowles-Montgomery Funeral Home. As those touched by Jo’s kindness gather, they will share cherished stories and memories—finding, just as Jo always did, that art is truly everywhere, and love is its truest form. 

Though Jo Rogers has departed this world, her spirit lingers like a gentle breeze through leaves—a reminder that loyalty, humor, and grace are everlasting. She will be dearly missed and forever celebrated.
