Jo Ann Cooke, 84, went to Heaven Saturday afternoon, May 27, 2017, from Denton, Texas. Jo Ann was born May 30, 1932 in Midlothian, Texas the daughter of Carl Shockley and Maude Mitchell Shockley. She grew up in Gainesville and Dallas where she graduated from Sunset High School.  She met Jess D. Cooke in January 1950 and married him one year later on Jan. 5, 1951, in Dallas, Texas.  She was a pastor's wife in Texas, Ohio and Indiana.  Jo Ann became a director of missions wife when they moved to Ft. Wayne, Indiana.  They moved to Denton in 1993 where they chose to live in their retirement years.   Jo Ann was a very loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother and a great friend.                                                                                                                                                         Jo Ann is preceded in death by her husband, Jess of 64 years and son, Gerald Lynn Cooke. She is survived by sons, Phil Cooke and wife Marcia of Flower Mound, David Cooke and wife Debbie of Indiana, daughter Brenda Randles of Indiana.  Also surviving her are grandchildren Brooke Franks, Lauren Sanchez, Meagan Randles and Cody and Shannon Cooke along with three great grand children.  Visitation with the family will be from 6-8 pm on Tuesday May 30, 2017 at Mulkey-Bowles-Montgomery Funeral Home 705 N. Locust Denton, TX. Funeral services will be at 11:00am Wednesday May 31, 2017 at First Baptist Church of Denton, 1100 Malone St. with Dr. Jeff Williams officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park, also in Denton. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Dallas Baptist University, or to First Baptist Church of Denton.
