Jimmy Dale Brown, 72 of Denton, passed away Friday, May 23, 2008 at Presbyterian Hospital of Denton.  He was born March 26, 1936 in Sanger, Texas to Alvin J. Brown and Vernon A. (Wylie) Brown.  Jimmy was reared in Sanger and attended Sanger public schools.  During his youth, he enjoyed working the wheat harvest with the Schertz family.  Jimmy attended Texas Tech and graduated from UNT with a degree in Economics.  He married Bernie Kay Allen on September 4, 1959. Jimmy served his country in the Army National Guard during the Cuban Crisis in Leesville, Louisiana.  He entered the real estate business in 1967 and assisted in the development of University Drive.  Jimmy attained the Certified Property Manager designation.  He pioneered the local computerized MLS system.  He served the local, state, and national real estate associations in many capacities, but especially enjoyed the finance and ethics committees.  Jimmy had a unique gift for analyzing and working with numbers. He was a member of the Singing Oaks Church of Christ and served on the finance and mission committees.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, May 27, 2008 at the Singing Oaks Church of Christ, 101 Cardinal Lane in Denton with Don Browning and Bob Bentley officiating. Memorials may be made to the Singing Oaks Church of Christ missions, 101 Cardinal Lane, Denton, Texas 76209, or the Sanger Education Foundation at P.O. Box 429, Sanger, Texas, 76266.  Mulkey-Mason, Jack Schmitz and Son Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

He is survived by his wife, Bernie Kay Brown, of Denton, son  J. Dale Brown and wife Sandy; daughter Gayla McFarland and husband J.W., one sister, LaVerne Schertz of Sanger, mother in law, Margaret Allen, and four grandchildren, Baylee Brown, Tanner Brown, Quinn McFarland, and Grace McFarland.
