Burnell Hampton, age 83, of Lewisville, passed away Tuesday, April 14, 2009, in Lewisville.

He was born October 15, 1925 in Little Elm, Texas to Alfred John Hampton and Minnie Lee Kelton Hampton. Burnell served in the United States Navy during World War II. He married Bertha Mae "Dink" Hilliard on January 26, 1948 in Denton. Burnell was a member of First Baptist Church in Lewisville and was a lifetime member of VFW Post #9168 in Lewisville. His greatest love was deer hunting and then Dink.

He is survived by his wife "Dink"; brother, Jack Hampton and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and 11 brothers and sisters.

Funeral service will be 12:30 p.m. Monday, April 20, 2009, at First Baptist Church in Lewisville. Interment with military honors will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery in Dallas. The family will receive friends from 3:30 to 5:00 p.m. Sunday at Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home in Lewisville.
