Jessie Mae Simpkins, 94, of Denton, died Friday October 17, 2008 at Presbyterian Hospital of Denton.

Mrs. Simpkins was born October 21, 1913 in Abilene, TX to James Henry and Emma Zella (Yett) Welch. She was married to Leroy Simpkins on December 21, 1931 in Clovis, NM, (he died August 17, 1962). She worked at the Denton State School for many years.

A graveside service will be held at 4:00 PM Sunday October 19, 2008 at Plainview Cemetery, Krum. Rev. Cliff Feeler will officiate the service. Visitation will be from 7 PM to 8 PM Saturday October 18 at the funeral home.

Survivors include her daughters, Bonnie Reece of Denton, Bettie, and Husband J. T. Treadwell of Birmingham, AL; son, James, and wife Gail  Simpkins of Woodville; daughter in law, Hope Simpkins, of Denton, and son in law, Joe Blocker, of Commerce, GA  fourteen grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; thirteen great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Dorothy Blocker and a son, Leonard Simpkins.

Mulkey-Mason, Jack Schmitz and Son Funeral Home, 705 N. Locust Denton,  is in charge of arrangements.
