Jerry Wayne Walker, age 83 of Denton, Texas joined his wife in God's arms on Saturday June 29, 2024. He was born in Mt Vernon, Texas on June 13, 1941 to Ed and Lillie Mae Walker. He married the love of his life on April 14, 1966 in Denton and together raised a family he was very proud of.
Jerry proudly served in the Army on active duty, then retired from the United States National Guard from 1964 -1984. He retired from Southwestern Bell in 2000 and was a lifelong union member. He was a loving and devoted husband to his wife. They were married just shy of 50 years at her passing. He was a doting father and grandfather. All who knew him would agree that he never knew anyone that he didn't want to help in some way. He loved golf, country music and visiting with friends.
He is survived by his children Chris Walker, Holli Walker and Edie Chavira (husband Frank). Grandchildren, Ross Jones, Ian Walker, August Walker, Tess Walker, Aine Walker and Jude Walker as well as Joshua Chavira and Caroline "Cici" Chavira. He also loved and adored his great-granddaughter, nieces and nephews as well as long time friend, Linda Hymes.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Wanda Gayle Walker; and mother, father and brother.
You could always count on Jerry for a good laugh or a round of golf. He will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to know and love him.
A visitation will be held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesday, July 2, 2024 at Mulkey-Bowles-Montgomery Funeral Home, 705 N. Locust St., Denton. The graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, July 3, 2024 at Oak Grove Cemetery, Cross Roads, TX.
