Jerry Haney McCoy, age 84, passed away at home on September 3, 2024, in Saint Jo, Texas. Born on September 13, 1939, in San Angelo, Texas, he lived a life marked by dedication to his family, service and community.
Jerry attended Odessa High School and subsequently served honorably in the U.S. Air Force as an aircraft mechanic. Following his military service, he embarked on a career in retail sales, where he was known for his personable nature and dedication.
A passionate sports fan, Jerry spent many enjoyable hours fishing, watching his beloved Dallas Cowboys, and following baseball and hockey games. In addition, Jerry was the official family weatherman. Family members always looked forward to his timely inclement weather warnings. These activities brought great joy to him and were a significant part of his leisure time.
Jerry is survived by his loving spouse, Janie Fay McCoy; daughter Gwinna Pedigo and her husband Scott; son Jerry McCoy Jr. and Trisha Kincaid; and brother Robert Gene McCoy and wife Donna; as well as his many nieces and nephews. He was also a proud grandfather to Gabby, Weston, Karli, and Jovie. He is preceded in death by his parents, Tom Dewey McCoy and Daisy Vera McCoy, as well as siblings Frances Mae Blum, Tommy Joe McCoy, Ruby Faye Fiesler, JP McCoy, Marion McCoy, and Ethel Jewel Parks.
Services will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2024 at 2PM at the First Baptist Church of Saint Jo, 402 N. Broad St. Saint Jo, TX 76265. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Easy Street Animal Shelter, POB 237, Saint Jo, TX 76265, in Jerry's memory.
Jerry's life was one of profound impact and enduring relationships, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
