February 8, 1958 – February 9, 2022
Jerald Dennis "Jerry" Marshall, age 64, passed away on Wednesday, February 9, 2022 at his home in Denton, TX after a long, courageous fight with cancer. He was born February 8, 1958 in Salt Lake City, UT to Hubert and Ruth (Pedersen) Marshall. He graduated in 1985 from Utah State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Aviation Technology and worked as a Service Engineer for Southwest Airlines until his death. He also worked as an Engineer/Manager previously for McDonnell Douglas Aircraft Corporation in Long Beach, Palmdale, and Mojave, CA; Associated Air Center in Dallas, TX; and L-3 Communications in Greenville, TX. He married Bridget Balmos on June 15, 1985 in Sandy, UT.
Jerry enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, horses and just being outdoors. He was happiest at his deer lease, hunting with his son James, brother-in-law Doug Balmos, and good friends Charlie, Troy and Claire.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Bridget, his daughter Dr. Jennifer Marshall (Mark Foster) of Arvada, CO and his son James Marshall of Perry, OK. He is also survived by his brother, Clyde Marshall (Kathy), sister Hazel Quigley (Robert), and Kathy Wilder, all of Salt Lake City, UT, along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, aunt Gwen Pedersen, and brother-in-law Brad Wilder.
Two separate memorial services will be held in Texas and Utah later this year; dates and locations to be determined, pending COVID restrictions.
Jerry requested donations be made to the American Cancer Society ( www.cancer.org/involved/donate ) or another cancer research organization of the donor's choosing if anyone prefers to donate in lieu of flowers.
The family wishes to thank very much everyone who kept Jerry and his family in their thoughts and prayers and continue to do so. They also wish to gratefully thank all the doctors, nurses and nurses aides at Texas Oncology in Denton, Presbyterian Hospital in Denton, UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, and Ardent Hospice in Flower Mound who treated Jerry with so much compassion and care.
Jerry will be deeply missed by his family and many friends (including his dogs), and will be remembered most for his love of family, helping others, and his sense of humor.
