Jennifer passed away peacefully on August 27th at her home in Flower Mound, Texas, following a heroic battle with brain cancer.  She was 42.

Jennifer was born in Highland Park, Illinois and later moved to Spring Texas with her family where she graduated from Klein High School in 1984.  As an outstanding student and world-class swimmer, Jen attended Stanford University where she led the Cardinal swim team in the backstroke. Upon graduation, she joined Procter and Gamble in the San Francisco Bay area where she worked in National Account Management.

She met her husband of 17 years, Erik Peterson, while living in California and they made their first homes in the East Bay communities of Pleasanton and San Ramon.  Here they welcomed their son Erik and daughter Karly, into the world and Jennifer's life shifted to balancing her professional career with her newfound love of motherhood.  After husband Erik accepted a senior management position with Frito Lay in Houston, they moved to The Woodlands Texas. Jen left P&G after a successful twelve year career and then transitioned her energy entirely to her family.  They moved to Flower Mound, TX in 2003.

Jennifer will always be remembered by family and friends for her beautiful smile, quick wit, strong-willed competitive nature, and devoted love for her husband and children.  She is survived by her parents Jim and Maria Pokluda of The Woodlands, Her grandmother Mary Pokluda of Houston, her brothers Mark and Jim of Houston, and her sister Joan of Dallas.

Her husband Erik Peterson, son Erik (13) and daughter Karly (9) continue to make their home in Flower Mound, and request in lieu of flowers that donations be made to the Jennifer Pokluda Peterson Swimming Scholarship, c/o Klein HS Swim Team Booster Club, 9118 Cypress Square, Spring, TX  77379.  A memorial service will be held Tuesday, September 2nd at 11:00 am St. Anthonys of  Padua Catholic Church in The Woodlands, TX.
