Jeffrey T McClure
(Gonzo)
On August 2, 1962, Patricia Cook and James T McClure welcomed a beautiful blue-eyed baby boy into this world. He would be raised by his maternal grandparents, Hazel and Dewey King, in Carson, California. Jeff attended Harbor Christian School for primary and secondary education. He graduated from Carson High School in California in 1980. Jeff was a passionate Ford enthusiast and owned his first muscle car, a 1970 Mustang. He had an eclectic taste in music but often blasted music from Ted Nugent or Kiss while cruising The Strand in Hermosa Beach with his friends, and his car could be heard from blocks away. He was a student of many Chinese Kung Fu and studied under a teacher admired. He was a CB radio fanatic and went by the name "Gonzo". He was a talkative guy and landed his first job at Rotex Rotor Exchange in Gardena, California as a parts driver. He worked there for 28 years and climbed the ladder to become the top salesperson for the company, a title he held for many years. He got his first apartment in San Pedro, where he loved living so close to the Ocean. Once he got his first motorcycle, he would ride along the coast of Cali and the Angelas forest with his friends every chance he got. Jeff loved the game of football and was a DIEHARD Oakland Raiders fan.
Later in life Jeff was saved and baptized at First Baptist Church of Lomita, Ca. He followed The Lord with all his heart. After meeting in 1991, Debbie and Jeff developed a long-lasting friendship. It wasn't until Debbie moved to Texas that Jeff realized she was the love God had intended for him. After making the decision to leave his previous location, he packed up and headed to Texas. There, he secured a job at Terminix as a sales representative and found a church Family at Central Baptist Church in Denton, TX. Shortly after relocating, Jeff and Debbie got married and purchased their first home to start building their new life together. Shortly thereafter added to their lives beloved four-legged girl, Daisy. Her presence brought immeasurable joy and warmth to their lives, filling their hearts with unconditional love and happiness every single day.
Jeff adored his wife, everything about her was perfect in his eyes, and he couldn't have imagined spending his life without her. One of their favorite things to do together was to go away on Caribbean cruises, the opportunity to explore new places; they both loved everything about cruising to get away to spend some quality time together. His journey to the Lord was hastened earlier this year. In June, Jeff was promised a rebuilt heart, but unfortunately, in July, he contracted a severe infection. This led to a cycle of false hope that he would be able to return home to his wife and normal life. After a fierce six-month battle, Debbie, Sandy, and all those who loved him supported him and gave him the courage to face the inevitable. They assured him that everything would be okay and that it was time for him to go home to the Lord. He went through so much, he fought so hard and after more than 6 months in the hospital, Jeff went to be with the Lord.
He leaves behind his Devoted and loving wife, Debbie, and their pups, Toffee and Honey. He is survived by his Ride or Die Sisters, Kellee Bennett and Sandy McClure. His beloved in-laws, Edward Risner, Dena, and Thomas Thornhill, and their sons Dylan and Tyler. Goddaughter Victoria Martinez. Sandys Daughters Lori Jenkins-McClure and Sara Mitchell. His other siblings include Cindy and James McClure and David Holtman, Paul and John Cook.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, December 27, 2023 at Central Baptist Church, 2221 N. Carroll Blvd., Denton. Interment will follow at Belew Cemetery, Aubrey.
