Jeannine Clay Johnson, 87, of Denton, died Friday, November 27, 2020 in her home encircled by loved ones at Lake Forest Good Samaritan Village.
Mrs. Johnson was born on February 13, 1933 in San Angelo to James Jackson Clay, Jr. and Johnnye Louise Green Clay. She graduated as Salutatorian from San Angelo Central High School in 1951. She was married to the love of her life William Vance Johnson on April 7, 1955 in San Angelo. She was a devoted military wife for 28 years and demonstrated her devotion beyond any doubt by following Col. Johnson through 22 moves around the world with their two children and standing by his side for 65 ½ years. She was a beloved member of Trietsch Memorial United Methodist Church in Flower Mound.
Jeannine is survived by her husband, William Vance Johnson of Denton; daughter, Denise Deneen Johnson Robinson and son-in-law, Christopher John Robinson of Flower Mound; son, Vance Clay Johnson and daughter-in-law, Tanya Johnson of Bryan; grandchildren, Christopher Vance Johnson (granddaughter-in-law, Adryenne Johnson), Rebecca Lynn Croucher, Stephanie Denise Pippett (grandson-in-law, Alex Pippett), Alyssa Brooke Robinson; great-grandchildren, Destiny, Lexi, Junior, Jacob, Leilani, Malachi, Emma, Sarah, and John. She was preceded in death by her brother, James Jackson Clay, III.
Mrs. Johnson led her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren with laughter, joy, a love for Aggie football, and a strong faith that she openly shared with words and action. She lived with great compassion for the marginalized and has taught her surviving generations the meaning of generosity, perseverance, and hope.
A visitation will be held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at Mulkey-Bowles-Montgomery Funeral Home, 705 N. Locust, Denton. A private family interment will take place at a later date at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Memorials can be given to Trietsch Memorial United Methodist Church, Flower Mound, Texas.
