Jean Kincaid Pope, 71, of Denton passed away March 8, 2008 at Presbyterian Hospital of Denton. Jean was born June 17, 1936 in Taylor County, Texas to William Lee and Naomi (Hatton) Kincaid. She was married to Joseph R. Pope in 1955 in Abilene Texas. Jean's career with the Internal Revenue Service spanned 32 years of distinguished accomplishments. She rose to the level of Director of Examination and Audit in North Texas, Assistant District Director of Texas and was the first woman appointed as a District Director (of New York) in the Internal Revenue service. Jean is survived by her husband Joseph R. Pope of Denton, her progeny, Richard Lee Pope, of Wiley, Linda Jean Herbert of Rowlett, Marshall Pope of San Marcos, CA, Rhama Kay Jones of Sanger, and Wesley Laird Smith of Arlington, Christopher, Joshua, Justin, Quintin and Ian Pope (grandchildren) as well as a brother, William Kincaid of Sanger, and two sisters, Jane Burkhart of Dallas and Dorothy Books of Kingsland. A memorial service was held on Sunday March 9th at the First Baptist Church of Sanger located at 708 South Fifth Street in Sanger, Texas (ph: 940 458 7416).
