Jean Hood passed away peacefully on April 16, 2025, at the age of 87.  While she was known as Jean to some, many knew her as Grandy, Mother, Sister, Aunt Jean, Jeanie, and Ms. Jean.  She had a warm and generous spirit, leaving an indelible mark on the lives of everyone she met.

Jean was born Sept 9, 1937, in Denton to Verne and Oneita Carrington.  She was a 1955 graduate of Denton High School, where she made many lifelong friends.  She married Milton Hood on July 1, 1967, in Richardson.  They built a life together and eventually owned several childcare centers in Flower Mound and Irving.

She is survived by her children, Rick Irick, Vicki (Drew) DeFord, Milton (Beth) Hood Jr and Rodney (Michelle) Hood; her grandchildren Amanda (Tommy) Knobloch, Christy (Anthony) Small, Tiffani (Anthony) Persons, Trey (Elizabeth) Hood, Rory Hood Jr, Clifton Feltenberger, Taylor Hood, Alex (Josh) Webb, and Kelly Wilkie; her brother Jan Carrington; and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Milton Hood, son Rory Hood, granddaughter Lindsey Carmichael, and her parents Verne and Oneita Carrington.

Visitation is set for Monday, April 21, 2025, from 6-8pm at Mulkey-Bowles-Montgomery Funeral Home, Denton, Tx. The service will be held Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at 10:30am at the Chapel of Mulkey-Bowles-Montgomery Funeral Home, Denton, Tx. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.

Rest in peace, dear Grandy. Your memory will live on in our hearts forever.
