Jean Helen LaMagdeline (Bennett) was born on August 20, 1928, to parents Joseph and Hazel (Connor) LaMagdeline and awaiting her arrival was her brother Richard LaMagdeline. Her sister Dona (Hill) (Aurora) arrived a year later. Sister-in-law Virginia (Boulder Hill) joined the LaMagdeline family upon her marriage to Richard.
Jean was a beautiful, shy young girl who attended schools in West Aurora and graduated from West Aurora High in 1946.
Her Prince Charming was found in "Bob" (James Robert) Bennett and they were married in the LaMagdeline family home on June 1, 1946.
Two daughters were born to Bob and Jean; JoAnn (Barry) (Aurora) and Linda (Argyle, Texas). In 1965 Bob and Jean were given the gift of the son they always wanted when Patrick Barry married JoAnn.
Throughout their marriage Jean and Bob were blessed with a total of 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
After raising their family, Jean and Bob travelled throughout the United States in their Home on Wheels. They enjoyed years of travelling, celebrated 52 years of marriage and then her Prince was taken in 1998.
Jean remained in their Aurora home enjoying her gardens, outings with friends and family, and continued travelling. When she was 72 Jean climbed back on a horse for a trail ride. On her eightieth birthday she rode her first roller coaster and won her very first carnival prize in Branson, Missouri. Her 83rd birthday party was a circus theme, complete with a Big Top! Mrs. Bennett had just recently decided to take it easy and moved to Texas to The Sterling House of Denton, an assisted living community, where she made many new friends.
This wonderful spirit was welcomed into Heaven on September 24, 2011. She is deeply missed by family and friends, new and old.
Private family graveside services will be held at a future date.
