IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jay Eugene
Markley
February 18, 1948 – September 6, 2025
Jay Eugene Markley (77) went to be the Lord on September 6, 2025. Jay was born February 18, 1948, in Topeka, KS. He was the son of James (Jay) Don and Alma Louise (Ackers) Markley. He graduated from Seaman High School, married the love of his life, Judy (Shepherd) and you would often hear him joke, "I have had to put up with her for 58 years". His quick wit was undeniable and appreciated by so many. Shortly after their marriage, Jay and Judy moved to Texas where he earned his degree from The University of Texas at Arlington.
Jay served his country proudly as a member of the Marine Reserve Corps for 6 years.
During this time, he earned his CPA License, and throughout his career worked for numerous large law firms until his retirement.
Upon retirement, Jay and Judy returned to Texas to enjoy their family, Church, golf & Mexican food. There was some debate over the order of these, but he truly loved them all. Jay also enjoyed collecting antiques, was an avid antique golf collector, amassing quite a collection with stories for every piece. Truly, his family was his first joy, especially when winning at cards and games, but even a loss was softened because he was with his family.
He is survived by his devoted and caring wife, Judith Ann Markley. Other survivors include son Matthew Markley (Leah) of Columbia, MO; son David Markley (Wendy) of College Station, TX; favorite daughter Kristen Troop (Kyle) of Germantown, MD; sister Connie Lyle of Hutchinson, KS; niece Kelli Miller of Hutchinson, KS.
Jay's life was richly blessed with multiple grandchildren. Cory Hall (Megan); Jackson Nicoli (Baylee); Carter Nicoli (Riley); Kylie Troop; Emma Markley; and 2 great grandchildren; Callen Nicoli and Charlize Hall.
Per Jay's request, there will be no services.
