Jay Bruce Carder, 84, of Denton passed away peacefully on November 20, 2017. Jay was born in Louisville, Kentucky on September 4, 1933 the son of Jack Elmer Carder and Mary Etta Stonebreaker Carder.
Jay is preceded in death by his first wife Geneva and three of his children; Robin Gayle Carder, Patti Lynn Riley, and Timothy Wayne Carder.
Jay is survived by his wife Peggy Chrestman Carder, whom he married in 1983; daughters Jaylene Faye Carder of LaGrange, Kentucky and Tina Louise Carder of LaGrange Kentucky and son David Greenwood of Baton Rouge, LA; 5 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
Jay married Geneva Loy Thomas on New Year's Day in 1952 while serving as a radio technician in the Air Force. Upon discharge he went to school on a G.I. Bill In 1954 he opened his own business in Louisville, KY named Hi Fidelity Inc. He was the owner/operator there for 38 years until his retirement. He then moved on to work for UPS in their air division and in 1992 he and Peggy retired and moved to Texas.
Pallbearers will be Jim Rader, Stan Guess, Seth Mitchell, Ron Burke, Jay Hopp, Thomas Daniels, and Ricky Daniels. Honorary Pallbearers will be Billy Sanford, Ronald Fletcher, John Earheart, Bill Morgan, Bill Harris, Jim Basham, John Rautis, Baity Bartel, Stan Poole, and A.M. Lewallen.
Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday November 22, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at The First Baptist Church of Denton with Pastor Victor Sullivan and Chaplain Bob Garsee officiating. Graveside committal service will be held at 2:00p.m. in the Alvord Cemetery in Alvord, TX. Visitation will be on Tuesday evening from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Mulkey-Bowles-Montgomery Funeral Home, 705 N. Locust, Denton, TX.
