Janette Sams Gleaton, 84, of Denton, passed away Friday, May 17. She was born in Dallas, Texas on August 30, 1939 to parents, Raymond Alexander and Effie Olivia Gallop Sams. Janette was a secretary-bookkeeper for many years in various churches. She was also an accountant at Woman to Woman Pregnancy Resource Center. Janette had many interests including oil painting and decorating but her main focus was on women's discipleship. Because of her passion for discipleship, she has written two books-Prevail Volume 1 and Prevail Volume 2. She has led many women in these study books through the years. Janette has been a resident of Denton for 45 years and is a member of Denton Bible Church.
Janette was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Robert; her parents, Raymond and Effie Sams; three grandchildren, Michelle, Sean, and Ben; sister, Annette; nephew, Shane and various other relatives.
Janette is survived by daughter, Lynda McBurnett and her husband Sam of Aubrey; three sons, Robert E. and wife Susan of Gainesville, Dickey R. and wife Gloria of Southmayd, Terry W. and wife Lora of Gainesville; sister, Jean Rogers of Houston; two nieces, Raymie Walls and husband Craig of Colorado and Melissa Dempster and husband Bill of Whitewright. Janette also leaves behind 16 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and a host of extended family, as well as many friends.
A visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Wednesday, May 22 at Mulkey-Bowles-Montgomery Funeral Home, 705 N. Locust, Denton, TX. A service celebration of Janette's life is scheduled at 2:00 pm Thursday, May 23 at the Denton Bible Church Chapel, 2300 E. University Dr., Denton, TX, with Tommy Nelson officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be grandsons John Grimm III, Darin Gleaton, Samuel Grimm, Joshua Gleaton, Daniel Gleaton, Joel Grimm, Micah Gleaton, Kevan Gleaton and Aaron Gleaton.
