Jan was a faculty member at The Western College of Veterinary Medicine in Saskatoon Saskatchewan, Scott Ritchey Research Center and Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine Auburn Alabama, and Tuskegee College of Veterinary Medicine Tuskegee Alabama.

She was a Diplomate and founding member of the American College of Veterinary Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation, a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Alabama Veterinary Medical Association and past President of The American Canine Sports Medicine Association.

She is survived by two sons, Thomas Yuill and his wife Miranda Burnette and their son Ewan of Birmingham Alabama and Austin Yuill and his wife Aly and their son Miles of Orlando Florida, sister Debbie Steiss and brother-in-law Ron Williamson of Toronto Ontario, and her loving husband of 17 years Edward Aycock of Sanger Texas. Janet passed from natural causes as the result of a seven year battle with multiple myeloma.

The family requests that expressions of sympathy be made to the International Crane Foundation Saving Cranes and the Places Where Cranes Dance - International Crane Foundation, The Denton Animal Support Foundation Denton Animal Support Foundation, or the environmental or animal support charity of their choice.
