James Robert Wood, 91, formerly of Elkhart, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, October 25, 2014. He was residing in Denton, Texas so that he could be close to both of his daughters
James was born March 15, 1923, in Augusta, Illinois. He married his beloved wife the late Eileen Simons in Elkhart, Indiana, on February 15, 1946. James was retired from the New York Central Railroad and the owner of a small telecommunications company known as Penwood Sales. He was a proud veteran of WWII.
James was greatly loved by his children & grandchildren. He is survived by his three children: Christine Abbott and her husband Clayton of Arlington, Texas; Roberta Petric and her husband James of Denton, Texas; Carey Wood and his wife Teresa of Indianapolis, Indiana. He is survived by his five grandchildren: Jennifer Petric-Spence and her husband Jordan of Colleyville, Texas; Christine Petric of New York, New York; Hailey and Lynsey Wood of Indianapolis, Indiana; Brian Doyle of Gainsville, Florida. James is also survived by Roman James Spence, his great grandson, of Colleyville, Texas.
Friends and family may pay their respects at the Billings Funeral Home on November 15, 2014, from 12:00 to 1:00 P.M. A Service at the Funeral Home will follow immediately after at 1:00 P.M. followed by a burial at St. Vincent Cemetery.
