James A. Wessels of Hickory Creek, Texas, died on June 24, 2016. Jim was born to the late Albert Wessels and Evelyn Rue Wessels on July 16, 1945. Jim was raised in Clear Lake, Iowa, and attended Clear Lake High School. He was a proud member of the U. S. Army, serving in Vietnam as a military dog trainer/handler. Jim loved spending time with his wife playing golf, traveling in their RV and camping in his favorite spot on Lake Whitney, Texas. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Dana Sims Wessels; his stepchildren, John Rutherford and his wife Annella of Franklin, Tennessee, Mark Rutherford and his wife Lynn, of Coppell, Texas, J.D. Walker and his wife Rhonda of Fort Worth, Texas, and Donna Yates and her husband Joey of Mansfield, Texas; his grandchildren: Preston Rutherford, Piper Rutherford and Lily Rutherford. He is also survived by special nieces, Barbara Larsen, Lakeville, Minnesota, Vicky Reicks, Cresco, Iowa, Julie Cross, Sacramento, California, and Amy Thompson, Elk Grove, California. He was preceded in death by his sister, JoAnn Hale.
Services will be at DFW National Cemetery,July 5, 10:00 AM, Lane C.
