James "Jim" Lee Vorhis, 87, of Denton, died Saturday, September 19, 2020 surrounded by his family at home in Denton.
Mr. Vorhis was born on October 22, 1932 in Springfield, OH to Alfred Cookman and Ruth (Clingman) Vorhis. He graduated from Springfield High School and went on to earn his bachelor's degree from Bowling Green University. He was married to Patricia Dee O'Dell on March 7, 1953 in Springfield, OH.
Jim served in the United States Air Force and was a member of the Denton Bible Church. He worked for many years as an insurance underwriter and retired as a teacher in De Kalb, TX.
Jim is survived by his wife Patricia Vorhis of Denton; daughters, Felecia Stacks (James) of Denton, Diane Vorhis of Miami Springs, FL, Cheryl Vorhis of Denton; son, Glen Vorhis of Denton; grandchildren, Lynsey Werner (Michael), Sarah Stacks, Andres Vorhis.
A visitation will be held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Wednesday, September 23, 2020 at Mulkey-Bowles-Montgomery Funeral Home, 705 N. Locust, Denton. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, September 24, 2020 at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas.
