James Lawrence Sitz, 94, of Slidell Texas, died December 7, 2020 at Advanced Rehab & Healthcare of Bowie.

Mr Sitz was born on March 9, 1926 in Slidell Texas to Alvin and Jewel (Malone) Sitz. James was married to Thelda Carpenter Sitz on March 9, 1947. They were married for 70 years. He served as a deacon and a member of First Baptist Church in Slidell.

Mr Sitz was a farmer and rancher in Slidell several decades. He also managed A&P grocery stores in Denton, Wichita Falls, and Houston, then worked at Peterbilt Motors in Denton until he retired to run the family farm.

Mr Sitz is survived by his sister Edna Mae Winder and her husband Bob Winder of Wichita Falls TX; son Michael Sitz of Slidell, daughter, Judy Stracener and her husband David of Slidell; grandchildren, Dianne Fowler and her husband Jordan, James Stracener, Leah Browning and her husband Jared; great-grandchildren, Ally Fowler, Brady Fowler, Emma Fowler, Kolby Stracener, Jacob Browning, Cooper Browning, Logan Browning, Hailey Browning.

Mr Sitz is proceeded in death by his wife Thelda Sitz, father Alvin Sitz, and mother Jewel Sitz.

A funeral service at the Slidell First Baptist Church, 119 CR 2822, Slidell, TX on Thursday Dec 10, 2020 at 3 pm. Interment will follow at Slidell Cemetery.
