Obituary

James Norman Hodge 79, of Aubrey Texas, lost his long battle with cancer onSunday, June 12, 2011, in Denton. He was born January 25, 1932, in Honey Grove, Texas to John Calloway and Bessie Florence (Hess) Hodge.
Visitation will be at Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home on Tuesday , June 14, 2011 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Funeral services will be held at the First Baptist Church of Aubrey on Wednesday, June 15, 2011 at 11:00 am, with graveside services following at Belew Cemetery in Aubrey. The Rev. Harold Bowman will officiate the service.
James attended public schools in Honey Grove, and joined the United Ststes Navy in 1950. The Korean War was declared while he was in boot camp. He served his country until 1954, and attained the rank of AT3. His most significant duty assignment was at NAS Agana, Guam, M.I.
He married Lillie Mae Pugh, daughter of Homer Pugh and Mary Elizabeth (White) Pugh, on March 25, 1955, at North Dallas Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Aubrey and belonged to the Denton IOOF Lodge #82 and Denton Rebekah Lodge #18. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, and gardening. He raised vegetables and sold them at the Denton Farmer's Market.
James is survived by his wife ; one son , Billy Hodge and his wife Carol, of Aubrey; three daughters , Teresa Nave and husband Dale, of LaSalle, Il, Queta Nave and her fiancé Curtis McCullough of Denton, Texas, and Becky Hodge of Bridgeport, Texas.
9 grandchildren, 1 step-grandchild, 15 great-grandchildren, 3 Step-great grandchildren; on sister, Stella Caldwell and her husband Bill of Comanche, Texas; three sisters-in-law; Velma Hodge, Jeri Hodge, and Kathrine Hodge; one brother-in-law, Thomas Pugh and his wife Kathryn of Denton; and a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death his parents and four brothers, William Burlis Hodge, Victor Basil Hodge, Madision Eugene Hodge, and Dr. Noble Howard Hodge.
