On Sunday, August 30, 2026, God called our beloved Jim home to eternal rest at the age of 80.

Jim was born on September 17, 1945, in Amarillo, Texas, to Mary and Cecil White. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Robert White.

Jim is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Kathy White; daughter Jennifer Main and her husband, Mark, of Lompoc, California; daughter Rebecca Tan and her husband, Pavo, of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; son James and his wife, Ashley, of Fort Worth, Texas and their children, Ellesyn, Harrison, and Hayes; and son Michael and his wife, Krissy, of Van Alstyne, Texas and their children, Ryder and Hadley. He is also survived by his sister, Carol, and her husband, Ben; and his brother, Tom, and his wife, Kim.

Jim attended Monterey High School and Texas Tech University. Even as a college student, his natural aptitude for business and entrepreneurial spirit were evident when he started his own janitorial service. In 1971, he founded the Jim White Farmers Insurance Agency, beginning what would become his true professional passion and a successful 46-year career before his retirement in 2017.

Throughout his distinguished career with Farmers Insurance, Jim earned numerous honors, including five Championship awards, 23 Commercial Masters, 14 Commercial Round Table honors, two Leadership Awards, seven Life Championship awards, 22 Life Masters, eight Life Round Table honors, 38 Topper Club awards, and 12 President’s Council honors.

Jim was also a co-founder of the Lubbock Executive Association (LEA), serving as its president from 1974 to 1975. Nearly 40 years later, in 2013, his peers honored him as LEA’s Best in the Business.

But Jim’s life was about far more than his professional accomplishments.

He was funny and strong, wise and loving, and a man of his word. Jim was full of life, with a personality that opened doors and a presence people remembered. He was an avid Texas Tech fan and spent decades in his 45th yard line season ticket seats. He enjoyed many wonderful years in Ruidoso, but some of his most treasured years came later, when life brought him closer to his family and gave him the simple joy of just being “Pops.”

Jim was a member of Lakeridge United Methodist Church in Lubbock and a man of strong and abiding faith. While he will be deeply missed here on earth, we rejoice in knowing that Jim is at home with his Lord and Savior, reunited with his parents and loved ones who went before him.

His represents a life well lived, a family deeply loved, and a legacy that will endure.
