Col. (ret.) James Paul "Jim" Laible, 74, of Denton, Texas passed away Tuesday, May 27th 2014, surrounded by family. Jim was born in Syracuse, New York, the son of the late Paul James and Caroline Barbara Laible. He was married to his high school sweetheart and soul mate, Margot, for 51 years. Jim graduated from Chittenango High School in 1958. He was a 1962 distinguished military ROTC graduate of St. Lawrence University and a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity. Jim was commissioned as a Regular Army Officer and served for 26 years in the Medical Service Corp., including a tour in Vietnam. Some of his key assignments included positions at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, The Office of the Surgeon General of the Army, and at Health Services Command in San Antonio, Texas. While on active duty, he earned his Masters Degree in Health Care Administration from Baylor University and achieved the rank of full Colonel. Following his retirement from the Army in 1988, Jim held several hospital administrative positions including serving as the Vice President of the Texas Tech Health Sciences Center in Lubbock, Texas. Jim was an avid sports fan and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren who lovingly called him "Papa". He was a loving son, brother, husband, father and grandfather and a devoted soldier and friend. Jim is survived by his wife Margot; his son, Chris (Kari) of Warrenton, Virginia; his daughter Caroline Ozymy (Scott) and grandchildren Ali and Michael of Coppell Texas; his son, Mark (Emily) and grandchildren Caroline, Campbell and Corinne of Dallas, Texas; his brother, Charles (Nancy) of Watchung, New Jersey. A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 1 p.m. on Monday, June 23rd at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Denton, Texas. Jim will be buried at Arlington National Cemetery with full military honors at a later date.
