James E. "Jimmy" Frisby, 93 of Denton passed away on Thursday, May 31, 2012 in Whitesboro, TX. He was born August 9, 1918 in Tom Bean, TX to Glenn A. and Grace (Elliott) Frisby. He served in the U S Army as a Medic and was a member of the First United Methodist Church. He graduated from Denton High School in 1935 and later from what is now the University of North Texas. He was self employed as an auto dealer and real estate sales. He was married on December 18, 1949 in Hamlin, TX. to Joyce Culbertson who passed away on March 15, 1989.
Mr. Frisby was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Mary Glen Peery, and is survived by two sons, Jim Frisby and wife Gail, and Jack Frisby and wife Patrice, all of Denton. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Julie Frisby, Jud Frisby and Joseph Frisby; also extended family including nephew James Peery of Tuscon, AZ and Joe Edd Boaz and Sara Guernsey of Anson, TX.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 2, at 2:00 PM in Cole Chapel of the First United Methodist Church, 201 S. Locust, Denton, with Rev. John Peel officiating. Burial will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery. The family will be at the funeral home for visitation on Friday, June 1 from 6 until 8 PM.
