James J. "Jim" Hoiby, age 81, of Dallas and Lake Fork, Texas, passed away Sunday, October 19, 2008 at Lake Fork, Texas. Jim was born on January 1, 1927 in Beaumont, Texas to James and Pauline Correge Hoiby. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Wilma Hoiby, brother, Gene Hoiby, two sons Patrick and James, and four grandchildren. After graduation from Saint Anthony High School, Beaumont, Texas, in 1944, Jim enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served as a cryptographer in the European theater during World War II.
When he returned home he met Wilma, the love of his life, and following a three year courtship, they were married in 1949. Upon graduation from St. Edwards University, Austin, Texas in 1951 with a degree in Business, Jim began a 38 year career with The Associates. From his initial position as an adjuster, Jim advanced through the company, working in Oklahoma, Colorado, and Indiana prior to returning to Texas. In 1975, he was named President of Associates Development Services Corporation.
Jim retired to Lake Fork, Texas, in 1989 to pursue his loves of fishing and family. Jim was active in the Roman Catholic Church throughout his life, assisting with numerous fund raising and building projects. Jim will always be remembered for his humor, integrity and faith.
The family will receive visitors and friends Friday, October 24, 2008 from 7pm to 9pm at Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home, 148 W. Church St. Lewisville, Texas 75057. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00am at Prince of Peace Catholic Community, 5100 Plano Parkway West, Plano, Texas 75093. Jim's remains will be interred in the Columbarium at Prince of Peace Catholic Community at a later date.
