In Memoriam: James Patrick Jenson

On the solemn day of June 27, 2023, our hearts were heavy as James Patrick Jenson, a man of extraordinary spirit and invincible will, left this earth after valiantly enduring a protracted battle with cancer. Born on October 27, 1948, at Old Denton Hospital to Murray and Lorene Jenson. Pat, as he was affectionately known, embarked on a life that would leave an indelible mark on the lives he touched.

Pat's journey led him to the hallowed halls of UNT, where he honed his golf skills, a pursuit that would become his abiding passion. His fervor for the game propelled him across numerous prestigious fairways, eventually leading him to a coveted membership and enduring friendships at the Dallas Athletic Club followed by many fond memories at the Denton Country Club. That said, his devotion to family eclipsed all else. It was amidst the somber occasion of a funeral in 1973 that Pat found himself captivated by the enchanting presence of Belinda, his soulmate. Love blossomed instantly and when Belinda came back to visit family for two weeks, she dated Pat. He took her to the airport when her visit was over and proposed to her before she left.

In the year 1980, the embrace of parenthood brought forth their beloved son, Justin. Together, Pat and Justin forged cherished memories amidst nature's grandeur, particularly reveling in hunting escapades amidst the vast expanses of Vermejo Park Ranch, Archer City, Texas, and Victor, Colorado to name a few. In these untamed realms, they shared in the thrill of pursuing deer, elk, and bison, bonding through their shared appreciation of the great outdoors. While Pat's professional path wove through the intricacies of the banking world, it was his enduring tenure at Inwood National Bank that stands as a testament to his dedication and prowess.

Now, as we stand in the wake of Pat's departure, we find solace in the knowledge that his legacy lives on within those he held dear. Belinda, his cherished companion of 49 remarkable years, remains a pillar of strength, supported by their adored son Justin and his loving wife Whitney. The radiant presence of Pat's granddaughters, Merrick, Mercer, and Merron Jenson, will forever bear the imprint of his tender guidance and profound love. Pat's family fabric was further enriched by his brother George (Mick) Jenson, alongside his wife Miss Pat, his sister Jane Nelson, with her husband Scott, and his sister Anne Henry, alongside her husband George.

Pat is preceded in death by his parents, Murray and Lorene Jenson, his grandparents George William and Emma Mehlhorn and Palmer and Frieda Jenson.

As we bid farewell to James Patrick Jenson, let us cherish the memories that intertwine with our collective hearts, forever grateful for the privilege of knowing this remarkable man. In the tapestry of life, his spirit shall forever endure, an eternal testament to the immeasurable impact he made during his time among us.
