James R. Hunter, 87, of Lake Dallas, TX, died Sunday, March 5, 2023 at Medical City Hospital in Denton.

Mr. Hunter was born on March 29, 1935 in Tulsa, OK to Robert A. and Bessie Elizabeth (Addison) Hunter. He was retired from the United States Army.

James is survived by his daughter, Cindy Lynn Lubbe of Durham, NC; brother, Allen Hunter of Sherman; nephew, Mike Hunter; brother-in-law, Chuck McGowan. He was preceded in death by his wife, Billie Joyce (McGowan) Hunter.

A visitation will be held from 4pm to 6pm Thursday, March 9, 2023 at Mulkey-Bowles-Montgomery Funeral Home, 705 N. Locust St., Denton. The graveside service will be held at 1:30 pm Friday, March 10, 2023 at Pike Cemetery, near Blue Ridge, TX in Collin County.
