James Erwin, 89 of Denton, Texas went to be with Our Lord on February 22,2024. He was born on November 12, 1934, in Denton, Texas to Lain and Bessie (Charles) Erwin. He joined the Navy and served in the Korean War. He married LeNonia Starr in 1957. He was preceded in death by her in 1963. He married Joyce Thompson in 1964. They were married forty-two years till her death in 2006. He is also preceded in death by his parents, siblings Charles, Imalain, Anna Gene, Mary, Bob, Reese, and Donnye. He is survived by son David (Lisa) Erwin and daughter Denise (Don) Sales. Several grandchildren and great grandchildren, one sister, and three brothers. He was a member of Gateway United Baptist Church. James started his law enforcement career with Denton Police Department, then went to work for the Denton County Sheriff's Department, before he was elected to Justice of the Peace, Precinct 1 in Denton County where he served for sixteen years. After his retirement he worked for Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home till 2016. We would like to thank the staff of Carriage House for all their care, concern and love for our dad.
