Obituary

James "Jim" Neiland Cox Sr, 80, of Sanger, died Sunday, September 20, 2020 at Texas Health Harris Hospital in Fort Worth.

He was born November 26, 1939 in Denison, Texas to Clarence Coleman Cox and Hugh Jean Clifton Cox. He attended Denton High School and graduated from North Texas State University where he met his wife, Patricia Hatchel. They were married in Hearne August 4, 1968 and had two beautiful daughters, Amy and Natalie, and son, James Cox Jr. He was a member of Blue Mound United Methodist Church. He retired as a Mechanical Design Engineer for Texas Instruments and taught Industrial Arts at North Texas State University.

Jim loved nature and the outdoors and always enjoyed his time dove and deer hunting, as well as his Black Powder Club and Ranger Springs Skinner Living History Club that he shared with his son for over 30 years. Jim was a longtime fan of the Dallas Cowboys and could be found rooting for them each Sunday and Thanksgiving. He loved his family very much and took much joy in his five grandchildren and great grandson.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia, of Sanger; his daughters, Amy Cox of Denton, Natalie and husband, Wayne Emert of Bolivar, Son, James Cox Jr and wife, Heather, of Justin; sister, Dana Cox Funk and husband, Fred, of Aubrey; Five grandchildren, Chloe Cox, Meredith Emert, and Cole Emert of Bolivar, Clara and Lily Cox of Justin; great grandson, Jaxon, of Bolivar.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, September 26, 2020 at Blue Mound United Methodist Cemetery, 8421 N I-35, Denton , Texas.
