Mr. Jackie Clay McFarling, Jr., 45, of Denton, passed away suddenly on Wednesday May 10, 2006. Services will be Saturday, May 13, 2006 at 10:00 AM at Cindy Nichols Chapel of the First Baptist Church, 1100 Malone St., Denton, with graveside service at Roselawn Memorial Park following the service. Officiating will be Nathan Randal and Robert Raynor. The family will receive friends at the Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home at 705 N. Locust St., Friday, May 12, 2006 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
Jack was born January 7, 1961 at Flow Memorial Hospital in Denton, TX. Jack graduated from Denton High School and attended NCTC before entering the real estate industry. Jack joined the Denton Board of REALTORS in February 1983. Jack was a charter member of the Young Council of REALTORS. His real estate activities continued until his untimely death. Among his other activities, Jack participated with the North Texas State Fair Parade Committee. He enjoyed working the parade for many years.
Jack married Ellen Schertz April 13, 1999. Their love for each other was the envy of many people because of the happiness they shared with each other. Jack is also survived by his mother, Doris McFarling; two stepchildren: Nicole and Eric Schertz; a sister: Nancy Nichols and her husband Rick and their two children: Ricky and Sarah; Uncles and Aunts, and many cousins. Jack was preceded in death by his father Jack C. McFarling, Sr. and sister, Barbara McFarling.
Jack McFarling will be missed by so many friends. His outward concern for others was felt the instant anyone met him. He was quick to make friends and loved to cultivate those friendships to last forever. Tomorrow will be sadder and there will be a void because Jack is gone. Our memories of him will help us smile when one mentions his name. Goodbye dear friend.
