August 16, 1944 – November 26, 2025
Jack Carl McGhee lived a full and joyful life—one with no regrets. Born in Phoenix, Arizona, Jack was the only child to Carl and Ina "Ruth" McGhee and raised as a military child. He lived in many places growing up, one of his favorite chapters was the time his family spent in Japan. He later lived in Wichita Falls, where he graduated from high school and met the love of his life, Patsy.
Jack and Patsy married in 1964 and began their life together in El Paso, Texas, where they lived for 50 years before moving to Argyle in 2014.

Career
Jack began his 40-year career with Standard Oil as a gas station attendant in Wichita Falls—the very place he and Patsy first met. After transferring to El Paso, he began working with Chevron Refinery working through multiple departments: the company stations, the mailroom, and "the lab" where he started as the bottle washer and ultimately became a chemistry technician. He worked on equipment and tested fuel—at times even the fuel for visits from the President of the United States.
After retiring, he returned to the industry when Western Refinery asked him to consult, where he eventually worked another ten years. Jack was known as Chevron and Western's "chief fixer," able to repair anything and solve any problem with creativity and precision.
Faith & Service
Jack was a longtime member of Cielo Vista Church in El Paso, where he sang in the choir and repaired anything that needed fixing. After moving to Argyle, he became an active volunteer at Cross Timbers Church, continuing his ministry through service and hands-on work.
Passions
To say Jack loved motorcycles is an understatement. Over the years he owned more than 56 motorcycles, we lost count, but never a Harley—and he loved riding in the desert, in the mountains, and in enduro races across the country. Two things defined Jack: his motorcycles and his love for Patsy (whom he teased relentlessly and lovingly).
He passed on his love of the outdoors to many through years of camping, hiking, and serving as a Boy Scout master.
Jack was endlessly creative and talented. He painted, did woodworking, mastered machine embroidery, fixed anything mechanical, and carried an impressive amount of trivia—especially the kind you didn't really need to know. He loved learning and would watch anything that taught him something new.
Character
Jack was a faithful family man and friend—someone everyone could count on. A man of excellence, integrity, humor, and quiet strength. When he spoke, people listened.
He adored his family and never missed a single event, even if it meant traveling across state lines. He loved his yard, his birds, and his wind chimes. He laughed often and loved Johnny Cash, old-school country, and gospel music.
Jack once tried having a pet monkey until Patsy put a firm stop to that. He loved all animals—from dogs to birds, turtles, even a baby skunk when he was a boy—and seemed to have a soft spot for any creature that crossed his path.
Above all else, Jack loved deeply. He loved Patsy with devotion, his family with pride, and his life with gratitude.
Thank you to the staff at Texas Oncology in Denton. During the last two and a half years, Dr. Anant Sharma and nurse Trish Jones compassionately cared for Jack and our family.
