IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jack Dale
Johnson
September 10, 1938 – December 24, 2022
Jackie Dale Johnson "Jack" passed away peacefully at his home in Ponder, Texas in the early morning hours of December the 24th, 2022, following many years of bravely battling Parkinson's disease, Jack was surrounded and comforted by his loving family.
Jack was the 2nd of 10 children, he was born in Cross Plains, Texas on Sept. 10, 1938 to parents Looney E. and Lenora J. Mallone Johnson.
Jack attended school at Cross Plains, Cottonwood, and Putnam high school in Texas, until he joined the US Navy in March of 1957 where he served honorably until March of 1963.
After an honorable discharge from the Navy, Jack began a long career in the oilfield industry, starting with Parker Drilling Co. of Tulsa, Okla, where he became Parker's Asian operations manager, based out of Singapore.
Jack frequently traveled deep into the jungles of Borneo, New Guinea, Sumarta, and other Asian/African locations, as part of his duties for Parker Drilling. Jack returned home with many wild stories and strange artifacts that he had accumulated from his world travels. While on locations in New Guinea Jack had to maintain good relations with the indigenous tribes, he and the Chief exchanged many gifts and adorations for each other.
Back in the U.S. Jack joined his brother, Doyle in the printing business for a few years, then returned to the oilfield industry with Pioneer Drilling until his retirement.
Jack loved life, large family, and celebrations with friends and family. He loved desserts and you could often find him sitting at the dessert table with a bowl of banana pudding. Although he often denied his love for animals, he passed on his passion to all three of his children. He was also an avid deer hunter and gunsmith, which he pursued until Parkinson's made it impossible to continue. He will be sorely missed by all.
Jack is preceded in death by his parents Looney E. and Lenora J. Mallone Johnson, brother Thomas E. "Eddie" Johnson, and daughter Debra Johnson.
Jack is survived by his wife Norma Jean Johnson, daughter Tia Raley and husband Tyler, son Miles Johnson and fiancé Summer Krause, 8 siblings, 5 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
