Obituary

Jack Wilson Highfill, Jr. was born in Gainesville, Texas on December 10, 1948 to Anna Grace Klinglesmith Highfill and Jack Highfill, Sr. He passed away on September 4, 2021 at his home in Denton, Texas.  Jack was a seventh generation Texan and a life-long member of the Methodist church.

Jack is survived by his brother, George Edward Highfill of Dallas, sister-in-law Patrica Paclik Highfill, nephew Aaron Highfill and companion Abby Tupin Shelton of Denton, and nephew Zachary Highfill and wife Susan of Denton, as well as grand-nephews Hezekiah Andrew Highfill and Maddox Joel Highfill and grand-niece Adira Kathryn Highfill, all of Denton.  Family was an important and cherished part of Jack's life.

Jack attended twelve years of school in Valley View, Texas, and was the Valedictorian of his class in 1967.  He graduated from what is now The University of North Texas in 1971 and was a member of the Phi Eta Sigma Honor Fraternity.  Jack "loved him some UNT".  He was an avid spectator and supporter of UNT Athletics and the College of Business Administration.

Jack spent his professional career in the credit management area and spent 21 years at Moore Business Forms corporate office in Denton.  When Moore's left Denton, he became a credit manager of corporations in the DFW area and retired from Romco, Inc. in 2014.

The Methodist Church was a vital part of Jack's life.  At the Valley View Methodist Church, he was a member of the choir and was the pianist and organist for several years.  He was lately a member of the First United Methodist Church of Denton and for many years he was a dedicated member of the Chancel Choir.   Jack enjoyed flower arranging and was so proud of the arrangements he would make for FUMC Denton.

Jack was, also, an avid gardener, reader, collector of many things, and an enthusiastic traveler when he had the opportunity.

Jack enjoyed many daily brunches at the Great Egg in Denton.  He cherished the friendships he made with the Manager, Della Brown, her staff, and many of their regular patrons.

A celebration of his life will be at 10:00 AM, Friday, September 10, at the First United Methodist Church in Denton.  There will be a visitation time preceding the service.  Burial will be at the Valley View Cemetery in Valley View, Texas.

Scholarships will be established in Jack's name at the University of North Texas through the UNT Foundation for athletics and business administration.

Doodle, you will be missed, but not forgotten.  You left a scar on my chin and an empty place in my heart.
