Jack Dempsey Harwell, 83 of Denton, died Wednesday, September 12, 2007 at The Vintage. He was born August 26, 1924 in Wellington, TX to Thomas Fisher and Lou Mabelle (Capp) Harwell. He was married to Pauline Witt Ford, in Frisco, TX on February 9, 1963, she died October 2, 2002. He was a graduate of the University of Texas, with a degree in Journalism. He was a member of the McKinney Street Baptist Church where he was a Deacon. He served in the U. S. Navy in World War II and was a founding member of Denton ARC, He was active in Religious Ministry, and the Denton County MHMR He was retired from HUD, where he was a Government Services Consultant. . He had also served at the Religious Editor for the Houston Post, and was a Published Author, and a Photo Journalist.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A>m. Saturday, September 15, 2007 at the McKinney Street Baptist Church, 3000 E. McKinney St. Denton, with Rev. Bill Black, officiating. The family will be at Mulkey-Mason, Jack Schmitz and Son Funeral Home, 705 N. Locust, Denton, for visitation from 7:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Friday, September 14, 2006.
Mr. Harwell is survived by his daughters, Donna Pearson, and Judy Good, of Denton, and Barbara Ganzer, of Sanger, a son, James Alan Harwell, of Denton, and a sister in Law, Opal Harwell, of Norman, Oklahoma. He has five Grandchildren, Kalyn Pearson, Nathan Pearson, Robert Good, Ramey Tapply, Ely Ganzer,. Two Great Grandchildren, Liaam Tapply, and Nicholas Good. He was preceded in death by Eight Brothers and Two Sisters.
