Obituary

Jack Gwynne, 76, of Hickory Creek, Texas, passed away on January 2, 2025, leaving behind a legacy as rich and complex as the magic that shaped his early life. Born in Chicago, Illinois, to Virden (Bud) and Helen Gwynne, Jack was the grandson of famed magician and illusionist Jack Gwynne. Performing alongside his sisters Gwendolyn (GiGi) and Gelen in the family's act, "The Royal Family of Magic," Jack grew up surrounded by the excitement and artistry of the stage.

A graduate of Roosevelt Military Academy in 1966, Jack embraced discipline and leadership early in life. He remained a practicing Catholic throughout his years, serving as a member of the Knights of Columbus, Ralph Cerny Council #12553, at St. Mark Parish in Argyle, Texas.

Jack was the patriarch of his family, providing unwavering support to multiple generations of the Gwynne family. While deeply proud of his family's legacy, he also forged a remarkable path of his own.

Professionally, Jack excelled in executive call center and operations management. Over a career spanning decades and industries, he built and led high-performing teams at companies such as Continental Airlines, Kraft, Hewlett-Packard, GMAC and National Express. Known for his expertise in change management, workforce planning, and knowledge systems, Jack's work transported him across the country—from Chicago to Honolulu, Denver, Houston, Missouri, Dallas, Jackson, and ultimately to Hickory Creek, Texas. Wherever he went, he inspired others with his leadership, vision, and unwavering dedication.

Jack was a passionate dog lover, a die-hard fan of the Chicago Bears and White Soxs. Jack had unshakable loyalty for his Country past and present. Jack's patriotism and sense of duty defined his character.

He leaves behind his beloved wife, soulmate and best friend of 24 years, Holly; Shelby (his dog); his daughter Gretchen, son-in-law Phil, and their three children, Isabella (22), Josef (18), and Samuel (15); and his son Jason, daughter-in-law Yvette, and their two children, Payton (21) and Gage (19); his sister Gwendolyn, in addition to many family members, and cherished friends.

Jack will be greatly missed and remembered as a man of many layers: a magician's grandson, a dedicated leader, a loving husband, father, grandfather, friend, dog lover, and a sports enthusiast.

A Rosary and visitation has been canceled due to the inclement weather.

A Catholic mass will take place on Saturday, January 11th, at 10 am, at St. Mark Catholic Church, 6500 Crawford Rd., Argyle, TX 76226.

He will be laid to rest at Roselawn Memorial Park, 3801 Roselawn Dr., Denton, TX 76207. A luncheon will be hosted at St. Mark Catholic Church following graveside services.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to Apollo Dog Rescue (Donate) in Jack's name.
