Jack Ellis Lester, age 83, a lifelong resident of Denton, passed away Thursday, July 9, 2009, at his home.
He was born August 3, 1925 in Denton to John and Odessa Lester. Jack served in the United States Army during World War II and the Korean Conflict. During his service in World War II he was a Staff Sergeant with the infantry in Europe, and saw action during the Battle of The Bulge in Belgium, the Colmar Pocket in France, was with the British Army in Holland and the crossing of the Rhine River into Germany. His service during the Korean Conflict was at Fort Hood Texas.Jack married Margaret Gregory on March 24, 1951 in Sanger, Texas. She preceded him in death on July 8, 2006. He was employed by Moore Business Forms for 19 years, customer service manager for the City of Denton for 11 years and was a purchasing agent for Acme Brick for 8 years. He retired from Acme Brick in 1987.
Jack, lovingly known by his family as "Pop" is survived by two sons, Royce Lester and his wife Becky of Little Elm and Dan Lester of Gunnison, Colorado; daughter, Sharon Mulkey and her husband, Craig of Lewisville; grandchildren, Adam and Greg Lester and Chad and Melanie Mulkey and sisters, Eva Jo Watson and Mary Carlton.
Funeral service will be held 2:30 p.m. Monday, July 13, 2009, at Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home in Denton. Interment will follow at Old Alton Cemetery in Denton. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. For online condolences please go to www.mulkeymason.com.
