Jack Duncan, of Pilot Point, Texas, passed peacefully from this life at his home on Friday, May 2, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was 91 years old.
Jack was born in Denison, Texas, the youngest son of Leonard Lewis Duncan and Ruby Aline Jones. He joined the Navy at 17 and after serving his commitment he worked at several jobs before finding his place at the US Postal Service. Jack was a mail carrier for the Postal Service and during his time there he received many accolades for his work ethic and dedication to the job and was even a member of the Million Mile Club! Jack married Betty Marie Ryse on February 2, 1957, in Gainesville, Texas. They enjoyed almost 53 years of loving and devoted marriage until her death in late 2009. During their marriage they made many friends and enjoyed vacations, but their most meaningful accomplishment was joining the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Along with Betty, Jack was a devoted member of the church. They hosted missionaries, attended church gatherings, and after receiving their Temple Recommendations they both served the church by working in the Dallas Temple every week, a commitment Jack continued after his retirement and when Betty could no longer serve.
Jack is preceded in death by his wife, Betty Marie Duncan, his parents, Leonard Lewis Duncan and Ruby Aline Jones, and his brothers, Leonard Lewis Duncan, Jr, and William Earnest Duncan.
Jack is survived by his niece, Sherry Duncan and her partner Mike Marquart, nephews, Mike Duncan and his wife, Chon Suk, Randy Duncan and his wife, Brenda, Leo Duncan, Edward Duncan and his wife, Sonia, and Joseph Duncan and his wife, Abigail, grand-nieces, Andrea Safford, Marcey Decker, Amy Ross, Christina Bennett and Karely Cantú, grand-nephews, Keith Duncan, John Duncan, Joshua Duncan and Eduardo Cantú, great-grand nieces and nephews, Angelina, Brayden, Cirstyn and Desmond Safford, Lucas and Lily Gabriel, Maddox and Vincent Duncan, Ruby and Lily Ross, Sebastian and Sophie Bennett, Caroline, Camille, and Maeve Duncan, and Kaylee Cantú.
Services will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 8801 Martop Road, Aubrey Texas, on Saturday, May 10 with the visitation at 1 pm. and the funeral at 2 pm. Burial will immediately follow the services at Prairie Mound Cemetery, 1006 4th Street, Argyle, Texas.
