Judge J. Ray Martin

J. Ray Martin age 91 of Denton passed away Saturday May 7, 2011 at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Denton. He was born in Denton, Texas on December 6, 1919 to James Robert Martin and Effie May Hearn Martin. He graduated as Valedictorian from Denton High School and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry and Mathematics from North Texas State Teachers College and later attended Colombia University where he received a Bachelors of Laws.
During World War II Ray served in the United States Army Air Corp. After a long and distinguished career in law he returned to Denton and ended his career as a Denton County Judge.
Judge Martin and his wife Lucile Laughlin Martin have lived at the Vintage in Denton for 14 years. He was proceeded in death by his parents and six brothers; R.E." Cotton", E.H. "Bud", Zeke, Delbert, Clifford C. "Bill", and Joseph Hearn "Joe".
The Judge is survived by his wife and son Lowell A. Martin of Denton and many nephews and nieces.
A Memorial Service will be 3:00 pm Saturday May 28, 2011 at the Vintage, 205 Bonnie Brae, in Denton.
