Irene Guyer, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend went to be with her Heavenly Father, Friday, September 26, 2008, while surrounded by her loving family.
She was born November 30, 1917 in Carrollton, Texas to Lee Curtis Chapman and Bettie Vinson Chapman, in the home of her maternal grandparents. Irene married Wallace Kimbrough Guyer, her husband of 61 years, on December 7, 1936 in Lewisville. He preceded her in death on July 15, 1997. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Lewisville, a longtime member of the Workers Sunday School Class and a former member of the UMW. She also was a former PTA member and a devoted mother and homemaker all of her life. Irene was a Lewisville resident for 72 years of her 90 year life. She put her family second only to God and showed it in everything she did in life.
She is survived by her daughter, Bettie McCord and husband, Ralph of Arlington; grandchildren, Bren Rucker and wife, Nancy and Kimberly Rucker Andrews and husband, Scott; great grandchildren, Cassy Andrews and twins Jeremy Paul Andrews and Jeffrey Wallace Andrews; and a number of cousins and extended family and friends.
Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 30, 2008, at Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home in Lewisville. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 prior to the service. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Denton. Reverend Don Lee and Reverend Paul Sackett will officiate the service.
