Herman Loys Vess, Sr. 81, of Garland, formerly of Denton, died Friday, June 8, 2007, at the Vitas Inpatient Hospice Unit, in Irving, TX. He was married to Margaret Louise Egry on Oct. 13, 1944 in New York City, she died Jan. 13, 1980, then He married Gertrud Deutsch Woodall on July 1, 1985 in Mansfield. He was a member of theTown Lake Baptist Church, and a retired Superintendent in the Construction Business. He served in the U. S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of the Arthur O. McNitzky Post #71 of the American Legion
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, June 12, 2007 in the Chapel of Mulkey-Mason, Jack Schmitz and Son Funeral Home, 705 N. Locust, Denton, with Rev. Allen Dwiggins. A graveside service will be at 1:00 P.M. at the Aurora Cemetery in Aurora, TX The family will be at the funeral home for visitation from 6;00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Monday, June 11, 2007.
Mr. Vess is survived by his wife Gertrud, of Garland, sons Herman L. Vess, Jr. of Fort Worth, Jimmy D. Vess, of Houston, Larry Vess of Forestburg, John R. Vess, of Denton, and Donald Woodall, of Garland. Daughters, Susan Wilson, of Wiley, Carlene Riddell, of Mesquite, Darlene Ward, of Trinidad, and Shirley Brock, of Eugene, Ore. A sister, Betty Moeller, of Dallas, GA and Twenty Grandchildren and Eighteen Great Grandchildren, and several Nieces and Nephews.
