Herbert Ferdinand Hancock, Jr. 89 of Denton passed away at home on October 31, 2014. He was born April 18, 1925 in Denton to Herbert F. Sr. and Edna Alice (Ellison) Hancock. He was married to Zella M. Hill on November 7, 1943 in Denton, and she passed away on April 20, 2003. As a young man, he was in business with his father in the Hancock Machine Shop near downtown Denton. Herbert then worked and retired from General Motors in Arlington.
Mr. Hancock is survived by his son, Phil Hancock Sr. and his wife Marty from Denton, and two daughters, Sharen Taylor and husband John of Colorado Springs, CO and Karen Stuewe-Berry and husband Bill of Marble Falls, TX. Mr. Hancock is also survived by his grandchildren, Phil Hancock, Jr., April Lawson, Jeff Stuewe, Greg Stuewe, Kelly Fredericksen, Tim Taylor, Ben Sadler, Matt Sadler, Cpl. Jake Sadler, USMC, Tammy Sullivan, and Nicki Taylor. He had 10 great-grandchildren.
A graveside funeral service and burial will be held at 11a.m. on Monday, November 3, 2014 at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Denton with Rev. Sam Redfearn officiating. Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home of Denton is in charge of arrangements. On line condolences may be left at www.mulkeymasondenton.com
