Herbert "Buddy" Andrew Steele, 75 of Denton, passed away from Pancreatic Cancer on Monday, December 5, 2011 surrounded by family at home.
Born in Luttie Oklahoma, May 9, 1936. Herb received his Bachelor's and Master's Degrees from the University of North Texas. He went on to a long and distinguished career with the Dallas Police Department retiring after 37 years. Herb was also very involved with various groups such as the Denton County Republican Party, Crime Stoppers, The Birdie Jackson Foundation, Member of the Denton County Sheriff's Office-OSU Unit, Habitat for Humanity and many others. He was also heavily involved at Willowood Church of the Nazarene where he held various roles.
Herb is survived by his wife, Sug; son and daughter in law, Andrew and Kelli Steele; his son Darrell Chaffin; his daughter and son in law, Sarah and Andy Andaverde; his daughter Denise Wallace; 9 grandchildren, Rachyl, Travis, Jacob, Maddie, Molly, Max, Abby, Mattias, and Marco; one great-grandson, Kyron. He is further survived by one brother, three sisters, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 pm Thursday, December 8, 2011 at the Willowood Church of the Nazarene.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, December 9, 2011 at Willowood Church of the Nazarene, with Rev. Mark Ramsey and Rev. Bruce Chamberlain, officiating. Followed by burial services at Roselawn Memorial Park Cemetary.
