Henry E. "Buddy" Thames, 71, of Denton, passed away June 27, 2007, at Presbyterian Hospital in Denton.
Born June 7, 1936, in Monticello, Lawrence County, Mississippi, he was the third of four children of James Claude and Neva (Bass) Thames.
Henry attended Copiah-Lincoln Junior College and the University of Southern Mississippi.

During the 1960s and '70s, Henry worked as a plant manager for various furniture manufacturers in Tennessee, Arkansas, Virginia, and Michigan, and as plant superintendent for Gibson Guitar Corp. in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
He and Sarah settled in Texas in 1979, and, after retiring from the Schwan Food Company, he relaxed by keeping up with his seven grandchildren and following the Dallas Cowboys, Texas Rangers, and Dallas Mavericks.
A member of First Baptist Church of Denton, Henry was a quiet gentleman with a positive attitude, kind words for all, and a good-natured sense of humor.
He was an accomplished athlete, and shared his love of sports with his family.
As he taught his children the fundamentals of baseball, basketball, and golf, he instilled a sense of pride, competition, and a strong work ethic.
He also coached Little League baseball for many years.
