Helen E. Cowan, 88 of Denton, died Thursday, June 23, 2005 at the Vintage. She was born February 26, 1917 in Aubrey, Texas to Claude H. and Bertha B. (Pugh) Eggleston. She was married to Reuben E. Cowan in Big Spring, TX on June 2, 1940. She was a member of the Gateway United Baptist Church, and was a homemaker.
A funeral service will be held at 10 A.M. Tuesday, June 28, 2005 at the Gateway United Baptist Church, with the Rev. Buddy Owens, officiating. Burial will follow in the Belew Cemetery in Aubrey, TX. The family will be at Gateway United Baptist Church on Monday, June 27, 2005 from 6 P.M. until 8 P.M. for visitation. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren.
Mrs. Cowan is survived by her husband, Reuben E. Cowan, of Denton, two daughters, Mittie Wally of Davidson, North Carolina and Margie Butler of New River, Arizona; three sons, Gordon E. Cowan of Arlington, Wayne Cowan of Florissant, Missouri, and Larry Cowan of Sherman; two sisters, Bessie Faye Walker of Big Spring, and Beatrice Hardin of Odessa; one brother Billie Eggleston of Midland, twelve grandchildren, twenty-seven great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
